Professor Dr. Elango Ayyasamy is a renowned Dairy Microbiologist and the current Dean of the Veterinary College and Research Institute, Salem, a constituent of the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS). With an illustrious career spanning over 29 years, he has demonstrated strong academic experience, research acumen, and administrative capabilities within the University.
His core research focuses on crucial food safety issues, particularly the investigation of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), a major global threat. He has extensively studied the prevalence and genes encoding resistance in organisms like Listeria monocytogenes, Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, and Carbapenem/Colistin-resistant E. coli and Salmonella spp. in milk, beef, and farm environments.
