Copper – The Triple Power for Plant Health

Copper is one of the most powerful tools in a farmer’s kit. It plays three major roles in crop care: micronutrient, fungicide, and bactericide. Let’s understand how this single element supports plant health from root to fruit.

Copper as a Nutrient: Copper is essential for photosynthesis, enzyme function, and protein formation. It strengthens plant cell walls and supports overall growth. Deficiency can cause yellowing, twisted leaves, and poor flowering.

Copper as a Fungicide: Copper-based fungicides like copper oxychloride form a protective layer on leaves. They kill fungal spores on contact. Copper is effective against blights, mildews, rusts, and many fruit and vegetable diseases.

Copper as a Bactericide: Copper disrupts bacterial cells, stopping infections like bacterial blight and canker. It is widely used in crops like tomato, chili, banana, pomegranate, and citrus to control bacterial attacks.

Key to Photosynthesis & Enzyme Activation: Copper is a cofactor in many enzymatic processes, especially those involved in: Photosynthesis – supports chlorophyll formation and energy conversion, Respiration – aids in electron transport within plant cells , Lignin synthesis – strengthens cell walls and vascular tissues.

Improved Water Regulation:Copper influences cell membrane permeability, which helps plants: Maintain better water balance, Resist drought stress, Absorb nutrients more efficiently.

Enhances Structural Integrity:Copper boosts lignification—the process of hardening cell walls. This: Improves resistance to lodging (plants falling over) , Reduces vulnerability to insect and fungal attacks, Strengthens stems and branches.

Why Farmers Choose Copper
